Pre & Post Care
Brows & Lips
Before and after care is a crucial part of the cosmetic tattoo or permanent makeup process. With out the right before and after care your brows or lips may not heal well which will then affect their overall look and longevity. Please pay special attention to the following, this will ensure that your brows or lips are ready for me to work on and give you the best possible outcome from your procedure.
Unfortunately not everyone is suitable for cosmetic tattoo, contraindications include:

Some medications thin the blood and bleeding can dilute the pigment, which can result in uneven healing of your brows or lips. You will need to discontinue taking Aspirin, Vitamin E, Fish oil, Vitamin C, Garlic Camomile, Glucosamine, Evening primrose oil, Ginger, Magnesium and Gingko one week prior to your appointment. If taking these under a doctor’s instruction you must consult your doctor before discontinuing use of these medications.
Strictly no alcohol or caffeine 48 hours prior to appointment as this could also cause unnecessary bleeding & dilute the pigment.
No exercise the day of your appointment.
No tinting, waxing or plucking of the brows for at least 1 week prior to your appointment, the more hair the better, I will remove any unnecessary hairs once your brows are designed.
No Facials or peels up to 2 weeks prior to your appointment.
No Retinol, Retin-A or AHA skin care products 2 weeks prior to your appointment.
No sunburnt skin on the face, avoid high sun exposure for at least 1 month prior to your appointment.
No tanning products on the face prior to your appointment.
If you have had cosmetic fillers or botox around or in the area being tattooed I recommend waiting 2 weeks post treatment before having your brows or lips tattooed.
If you are having your lips tattooed please take extra care to nourish your lips in the weeks leading up to your appointment. Keep them well hydrated using a good quality lip balm. Exfoliate them a couple of times per week either using a lip scrub or wet warm washer. Avoid anything that might dry your lips out especially wind or sunburn.
On the day of your appointment before you arrive at our studio in Townsville your should throughly exfoliate the area being tattooed, using either as sugar scrub or wet face washer.
I recommend attending your appointment in good health, if you are feeling unwell or suffering form an illness or recovering form a recent surgery this can make the treatment more uncomfortable and slow down the healing process which could also affect your healed results.
It is recommend that when you come to your appointment that you are well hydrated and have eaten sensibly.
You initial appointment can take between 2-3 hours so please allow sufficient time when making your booking as it is not a service that can or will be rushed.
After your appointment you will be given a copy of very specific after care instructions, however these are some of the crucial steps which are non negotiable.
You will be required to apply a healing cream 3 times per day for 7-10 days or until the brows/lips are healed.
You won't be able to wear makeup on the area being tattooed for the healing period, approx. 7-10 days.
No submerging in water, no swimming, saunas, direct sunlight or excessive sweating for 7-10 days or until the area is healed.
No facials treatments to the face for 4 weeks post tattooing.
